Career Development
 
 
PYDS believes that formal education is just the beginning of our responsibility to the children in the society. In keeping with our philosophy that our students should go on to act as agents of change for their society, we pay close attention to their career goals and aspirations. Previously, the career options for the children around Purkal would have been limited to labouring work, working as a maid or servant or maybe working in a tea stall or shop.
   
With the benefit of a good education, our students are now able to aspire to careers in professions such as medicine, accountancy, tourism and teaching to name a few. Yuva Shakti believes that it is our duty to help these children reach these goals and we do our best to provide them with as much support as possible. Some of the opportunities we provide are:
   
  • Regular career counselling.
  • Lectures from individuals from different professions.
  • Financial support for further education.
  • Work placements in their chosen field.
  • Field trips to gain knowledge about different career options.
  • Organising mentors who are working in the profession.
