The Purkal Youth Development Society

We at PYDS believe that attention to nutrition and healthcare is essential for ensuring the proper development of children and their ability to learn. With donations from our Fund A Meal and Healthcare Scheme, we have been able to provide over 140 students who attend our Learning Center a daily nutritious meal of rice, Dhal, a cooked seasonal vegetable and salad.

This scheme also helps us to ensure that our student’s receive quality medical care. Through our healthcare program, the children receive an annual health check-up, updated immunizations and care for illness and any health related problems that occur throughout the year. A Nursing Home provides us support in terms of beds and medical care.

With your support, we can continue to ensure proper health and nutrition for our students. Every meal costs Rs. 1500/-. It has been common for friends to recognize a significant event by sponsoring a meal for the students at our center. Many people have chosen to sponsor a meal in the name of a birthday, wedding anniversary, or the passing away of a loved one.

We announce the donor of every meal on a board fixed at the entrance of our kitchen for all those receiving a lunch to view. A photo of the message with the students is sent to the donor after the date. An annual reminder is sent 15 days previous to the date to the donor, if desired.

Those interested in sponsoring a meal to support our Fund A Meal and Healthcare Scheme may send information about the recognized date to the above-mentioned address. Once we know of the dates that you wish to commemorate, we shall carry out your instructions at the appropriate time. Cheques should be in the name of the Purkal Youth Development Society.
