PYDS is reaching out to over 140 children and youth in the surrounding communities and more children are participating in the program from year to year. At present students under our care are supported by sponsorship from individual donors and friends of the society. This means that their continued support is dependent on these individuals whose donation is collected on a yearly basis. While the majority of the students receive sponsorship, there are a small percentage that do not. Additionally, there are sponsorships that do not continue from year to year.
We have now developed a Corpus Fund for our students from which we can sustain their education without having to re-apply for the support of donors each year. Initially, we would aim to collect enough money from foundations, individuals and charitable trusts to provide for 100 students. It would then be possible for us to continue the growth and development of our projects without the added pressure of finding sponsorship for over 150 children.
The sponsorship model would still exist alongside this, but the Corpus Fund would supplement this. Corpus Fund will provide a yield each year, which will fund the education of these 100 students. The funds will also be used for other learning resources to help develop our education program, such as books for the library, teacher training and field trips for the students. As the fund grows, we hope to also expand our program and develop an I.T. Learning Center, improve our Bachelors in Tourism Studies Degree Program and add additional classrooms within our existing Learning Center.
We collect one time donations and annual contributions of any amount for the Corpus Fund. The donor may also specify the intended use of the donation, if desire. We appreciate your support in helping to strengthen our education program. For details on making donations, Click How to Donate |
