The CBSE announced its results as usual during the month and we have satisfaction that all our children have scored well into their high sixties both in the 10th and the 12th classes. Some are in the high seventies and a few are in the high eighties as well. While these records are a big jump from the 40’s which would have otherwise been scored by these children, we realise that good professional institutions look for marks in the 90’s for admission. With the Lord’s Grace we should get there in the near future.

PYDS does not observe long holidays during either the summer on the winter months, except for a week when we permit children some time to visit their grandparents, aunts and relatives. We believe that they are happily attending our campus and having fun playing, dancing, singing, doing yoga and otherwise engaged in interesting activities in the laboratory or with the computers. That’s what we did all through this summer. The children had a nine day break and this time was used by us to go through a teacher training module with the assistance of our volunteer trainer Mr. Harwant Singh.

With the completion of our new open Air auditorium we have commenced observing the ‘Parents Evening’ which we intend having once every month. This is an occasion devoted to classical dance, Hindustani Classical music, a play and any other interesting presentation that one of the four houses (selected for the month ) from the PYDS Learning Academy, choose to offer to all the parents invited for the evening. We see that the Dance and the Music teacher are able to enthuse our children to do better and that the children are gaining in confidence and developing their histrionic skills.

The parents of our children, most of whom are semi-literate, appreciate the opportunity to see their wards at school grow. We see this as an important forum for cultivating the parent’s interest in the school.

The entire school is now divided into four houses and each of them has been named after a flowering tree, which is on our campus and readily seen at Purkal in full bloom every year. The four names are Amaltas, Gulmohar, Kachanar and Dak. The School now has a School girl and a school boy apart from other office bearers and all of them will have a role to play in keeping the Society running. All these members of the Student Council were formally elected by the students.
