He has been a supporter of PYDS for several years now and has introduced many valuable people to the society who have helped further the cause. His organization Travel Scope supports PYDS with annual funding and has been instrumental in providing mentorship and employment opportunities to the students of PYDS who have pursued Tourism as a career. Mr. Sujit Banerji has worked in the tourism industry for over two decades and currently runs his own travel agency based in Delhi, known for its exclusive service and travel options. Sujit was one of the very first supporters of PYDS and has been actively promoting our work with his personal support, contributions from his family members and from a group of well-wishers. He has a keen interest in the advancement of the lives of rural children and despite a very busy schedule, gives quality time to PYDS and has helped to mobilize support in kind in the form of computers and other facilities for

PYDS. He provides mentorship to the children of PYDS as well as concrete internship options to the older participants of PYDS’s education program. Sujit pursues spirituality and healing as a means of increasing the happiness quotient amongst people. |

Col. Arun Mamgain had a successful career spanning 33 years in the army as a combat soldier where he trained teams and led from the front twice in operations against Pakistan. Col. Mumgain served as Commandant (head) of Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) Dehra Dun for over seven years, and his responsibilities included both educational and administrative matters (www.rimcollege.org). Mamgain has been providing invaluable local support, making frequent visits to the school to attend functions, greet guests, and motivate PYDS learners and has been solely responsible for the annual outbound trips to other States that 60 of our students undertake from year to year. Mrs. Sangeeta Shahane is a teacher and has been associated with the Purkal project for the past few years. She has been teaching one of the most important but often neglected subjects of today’s time – soft skills and communications. She began as a lecturer in English Literature and has since conducted tailor made modules in English language as well as communication skills for the front line staff of the hospitality and service industry. She joined the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) |

industry in 2003 which gave her a deeper insight into the importance of development of communication skills addressed at a large international audience. After serving as a full-time faculty at Rai University, she moved on to the ICFAI Business school where she is currently working. A perfectionist to the core and rated as a tough teacher, she is extremely popular among the student fraternity. |

Mr. Puneet Kashyap successfully oversaw the conclusion of a donation of seed money for PYDS’s school building from M/s Elan Computing, U.K. He has contributed significantly to PYDS. We have assembled several friends to the Purkal cause, thanks to him. The Society banks heavily on him for the growth of its donor base. Mr. G.K. Swamy did his Master in Economics from the Madras University and then relocated to Bombay and became a consultant – counselling entrepreneurs in capital investment decisions, working Capital Management, Exchange and Export Risk Management. He retired in 1995 and has since 1997 been living in Dehradun where he and his wife Chinni have been working with the community. Swamy promoted The Purkal Youth Development Society in 2006 and has since then spent most of his energies and time promoting and working for the cause. He has travelled extensively in India and has deep interest in folk crafts and house building techniques of local people.
